Jinh Yu-Frey is an American mixed martial artist and currently competes in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and is the former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion. She was born in Arkansas on May 20, 1985, but she grew up in Texas.
Jinh Yu-Frey made her professional MMA debut on April 6, 2013, at SCS 16 – Resolution versus Meghan Wright, winning in Round 1 by submission. Her next fight was on July 27, 2013, at SCS 18 – Declaration of Pain versus Darla Harris, winning by KO in Round 1. After the successful start of the two events, Jinh Yu-Frey signed with Invicta FC and debuted on September 6, 2014, losing from Jodie Esquibel the fight at Invicta FC 8 – Waterson vs. Tamada. After the failed title shot, Jinh Yu-Frey won three fights in a row versus Cassie Robb (submission in Round 1), Liz McCarthy (unanimous decision), and Herica Tiburcio (unanimous decision). The strong performance was interrupted by loss from Ayaka Hamasaki by TKO in Round 2. However, Jinh Yu-Frey won her next fight versus Ashley Cummins at Invicta FC 24 – Dudieva vs. Borella by unanimous decision.
Back in the win column, Jinh Yu-Frey challenged Seo Hee Ham for the Road FC Women’s Atomweight Championship at Road FC 045 XX on December 23, 2017. She lost the fight via knockout in the first round.
After Ayaka Hamasaki vacated her title, Jinh Yu-Frey faced Minna Grusander for the vacant Invicta FC Atomweight Championship at Invicta FC 30: Frey vs. Grusander on July 21, 2018. After being mostly outwrestled, she won the title via a unanimous decision that was widely regarded as controversial. Due to the controversial decision, the couple was slated to face in a rematch at Invicta FC 33: Frey vs. Grusander II on December 15, 2018. Jinh Yu-Frey successfully defended the title, winning the fight via split decision.
After a successful career in Invicta FC, she signed with UFC. Jinh Yu-Frey made her UFC debut on June 27, 2020, against Kay Hansen at UFC on ESPN: Poirier vs. Hooker. She lost the fight via submission in round three. On October 4, 2020, at UFC on ESPN: Holm vs. Aldana, Jinh Yu-Frey faced Loma Lookboonmee and lost the fight via unanimous decision.
